Pokemon 151 arrives at The Pop Shop September 22, 2023

            The Pokémon Trading Card Game is buzzing with excitement as fans eagerly await the launch of the Scarlet and Violet – 151 Set. This release promises a delightful trip down memory lane, whisking enthusiasts back to the enchanting Kanto region and igniting a sense of nostalgia from their childhoods.

While the set has already made its debut in Japan, the English version is poised to make a grand entrance on September 22, 2023. This release is not just about the visually stunning cards, which include EXs and Full Art cards.

151 in the set’s name does not refer to the number of Pokémon cards in the set, it pays homage to those “original 151 Pokémon” that captured our imaginations in the beloved Red & Blue games of the ’90s. Surprisingly, the total card count for this set stands at 210. This is due to the inclusion of various rarities, including Secret Rare, Illustration Rare, Special Illustration Rare, and Ultra Rare cards, each with its unique allure. The Japanese release has given us a sneak peek at the full art and rare illustration cards.  However, the highly sought-after Mew ex special illustration rare card, which transitions from day to night when tilted, can only be obtained in the Ultra-Premium box.

              A true highlight of this set is the reappearance of the elusive Kadabra card, marking a significant milestone after a two-decade-long dispute between magician Uri Geller and The Pokémon Company. With this longstanding feud finally put to rest, Kadabra enthusiasts can finally celebrate its return. Abra and Kadabra enthusiasts will also enjoy the Alakazam ex promo.

Although 151 will not be sold as individual boosters, or as 36 booster boxes, keep an eye out for the variety of boxes and sets that The POP Shop will distribute for this exciting Pokémon card set.
