Dare to Enter Duskmourn: House of Horror Expansion

Duskmourn: House of Horror

Prepare to Face Your Fears
Magic: The Gathering invites you to explore its newest and most terrifying plane – Duskmourn, a realm steeped in horror and dark fantasy. Within the haunted walls of Duskmourn: House of Horror, your deepest fears manifest, as nightmarish creature like Valgavoth looms, its wings sealing the house in eternal torment. Will you rally your fellow survivors and find a way out, or will you succumb to the horrors within?
Yet, amid the terror, Duskmourn offers a wealth of exciting cards to collect for Magic players. From unique card treatments to hauntingly beautiful artwork, here are the four most important things you need to know about collecting Duskmourn: House of Horror.

Glimpse the Horror with Double Exposure Cards
Experience Duskmourn’s terror through a new lens—literally. The double exposure treatment is featured on select legendary cards, paying homage to the eerie style of horror photography. These cards depict subjects overlayed in a ghostly manner, perfectly capturing the unsettling atmosphere of Duskmourn. You can find double exposure cards in both Play Boosters and Collector Boosters.
But some of these cards hold a special surprise: a shimmering, textured foil version! Exclusive to Collector Boosters, these textured foil double exposure cards enhance the chilling artwork, adding an extra layer of collectability to these haunting masterpieces.

Celebrate Art with Japan Showcase Cards
Duskmourn: House of Horror marks the debut of Wizards of the Coast’s Japan Showcase, which pays tribute to the stunning artistic styles found in Japanese pop culture and hobby shops. These cards feature artwork from renowned Japanese artists, making them a must-have for collectors who appreciate Magic’s global reach and artistic diversity.
Japan Showcase cards are exclusive to Collector Boosters. In Japanese Collector Boosters, these cards will always be in Japanese, while non-Japanese Collector Boosters will feature them in English two-thirds of the time and in Japanese one-third of the time.

Nightmares Take Shape with Mirror Monster Cards
Some of Duskmourn’s most fearsome creatures refuse to be contained by standard card borders. Enter Mirror Monster cards—borderless, hyper-stylized depictions of the plane’s most terrifying faces. These cards offer a unique and chilling twist on creature designs, giving players a terrifying glimpse of what lurks in the shadows of Duskmourn.

Experience the Paranormal with Frame Cards
Objects within the House of Horror possess an eerie, otherworldly quality, captured in the set’s Paranormal Frame cards. These cards sport a retro-tech aesthetic, with artwork that exudes an unsettling, supernatural vibe. Perfect for players who want to immerse themselves in the haunted realm of Duskmourn, Paranormal Frame cards can be found in both Play Boosters and Collector Boosters.

The Haunting Awaits
With double exposures, Japan Showcase cards, mirror monsters, and paranormal frames, there’s no shortage of frights to discover in Duskmourn: House of Horror. The set releases at The POP Shop on September 20, 2024, one week earlier than big box stores, just in time for Friday Night Magic and Prerelease Events. Booster Breakdown of Duskmourn: House of Horror
The sinister plane of Duskmourn beckons, a haunted realm that feeds on your worst fears. Your terrors are not only brought to life but also given a stunning new makeover with special card treatments and unique art styles. Whether you’re a casual collector or a seasoned player, Duskmourn’s Booster Fun has something to send a shiver down your spine. Let’s dive into the horrors waiting inside these booster packs.

Full-Art Manor Lands

Duskmourn: House of Horror Full Art Swamp         Duskmourn: House of Horror Full Art Plains        Duskmourn: House of Horror Full Art Mountain
Duskmourn: House of Horror Full Art Island         Duskmourn: House of Horror Full Art Forest
Duskmourn’s House is no ordinary building—it’s a living, shifting entity that spans the entire plane. Each room morphs with the fear of its inhabitants, and these unsettling scenes are brought to life in the Full-Art Manor Lands. These beautifully eerie lands depict different parts of the house and can be found in both Play Boosters and Collector Boosters. Perfect for players who want to feel truly immersed in Duskmourn’s creeping dread.

Double Exposure and Textured Foil Double Exposure

Double Exposure cards take a page from horror photography, capturing the plane’s inhabitants and their nightmarish adversaries in an unsettling, layered style. Found in non-foil and traditional foil in Play Boosters and Collector Boosters, these cards showcase the creepy brilliance of Duskmourn.

But for those who dare to look closer, there’s a haunted surprise: Textured Foil Double Exposure cards, exclusive to Collector Boosters. The added depth of these cards will make you feel like you’re looking at the House’s terrors through a cursed camera lens.

Paranormal Frame

The strange energy coursing through Duskmourn has tampered with the very fabric of reality, as shown by the Paranormal Frame cards. These cards feature a glitchy, retro-tech aesthetic that perfectly encapsulates the unsettling vibe of haunted technology. They’re available in both Play Boosters and Collector Boosters, bringing a unique flavor to your collection.

Mirror Monster

The monsters of Duskmourn can’t be contained by ordinary borders. The Mirror Monster cards, with their borderless artwork, pull you straight into the House’s worst horrors. These powerful cards are designed to distract you from the monster creeping up behind you (figuratively, of course—or maybe not). You can find these terrifying treatments in Play Boosters and Collector Boosters.

Borderless Cards

Duskmourn: House of Horror takes borderless cards to a new level of eeriness. In addition to borderless planeswalkers and rare land cycles, this set introduces Borderless Room cards. These showcase Duskmourn’s labyrinthian layout—rooms that defy all reason, much like the House itself. Get ready to lose yourself in the winding halls with these cards, found in both Play Boosters and Collector Boosters.

Lurking Evil Cards

What’s that behind you? Some terrors in Duskmourn are so subtle you won’t notice them until it’s too late. Lurking Evil cards depict alternate artwork where monsters of Duskmourn lurk in the background, watching your every move. These cards, with different collector numbers from their main set counterparts, are available in Play Boosters and Collector Boosters.

Japan Showcase:

Introducing the Japan Showcase cards—a new addition to Magic’s Booster Fun. This collection features stunning art by celebrated Japanese artists, a tribute to the rich and beloved styles found in Japanese hobby shops. These cards appear in both traditional foil and the new fracture foil, which adds a dazzling flair. In Japanese-language Collector Boosters, these cards will always be in Japanese. In other languages, you have a 67% chance of opening an English version and a 33% chance of opening a Japanese version.

Special Guests

Characters from across Magic’s vast Multiverse have gathered to save Nashi in Duskmourn, and their heroic efforts are commemorated with Special Guests cards. This set features special reprints from throughout Magic’s history, each with unique artwork themed around the plane of Duskmourn. Check out the special Collected Company card that shows off the team of rescuers. Non-foil Special Guests can be found in Play Boosters, while traditional foil versions appear only in Collector Boosters.
