Jump on in, the card pool’s fine!
Lorcana debuted two years ago on August 18, 2023. Now setting out on its third year and facing its first set rotation for Core Constructed play, seasoned Illumineers can look forward to keeping a great many of their collection moving forward.
And for those who have been eyeing this game for the first time. We can’t stress how amazing Fabled, the nineth Locana set, is as a jumping-on point for new players!
As with many other systems, if you own older cards (in this case the four sets from Year One: The First Chapter, Rise of the Floodborn, Into the Inklands, and Ursula’s Return) you may see favorites reprinted by Ravensburger in Fabled to keep them current for another year. This is also an opportunity to keep or build a deck for the Infinity Constructed format which allows for rotated cards to be used and will keep its own banned list as needed.
Hitting a critical mass like this is crucial for any TCG and can be a very healthy sign for the continuity of Lorcana. Not only do we hope to see even more people get into this game, but perhaps also see the rise of unofficial formats such as Pauper (un/common – only) or Singleton (one-card-copy-only such as Magic: The Gathering’s Commander rules).
Make no mistakes, however. Fabled isn’t a mere holdover. Fabled will see 171 cards returning from previous sets and will introduce 33 mechanically new cards! These new cards may very well be lynchpins in brand new decks or metas, so be sure to keep your eyes open for them. To keep things even fresher, all Enchanted-rarity cards (6 returning and 12 new) will have variant art.
If that wasn’t enough, Fabled introduces TWO new rarities: “Epic” (11 retroactive and 7 new all of which will be borderless foil cards) and “Iconic” which will most likely feature the two signature mice you see on all the art for this set. In the words of Mickey Mouse, “Hotdog, hotdog, hot-diggity-dog!”
You can bet that we’ll continue our weekly Lorcana Leagues on Thursdays as well as trade showcase singles with you all. We’re all-in on this TCG and want to help you build up your personal collections or help you hone your skills to take your hobby as far as you wish in big events. As we have plenty of tables in the store, don’t be afraid to come down on other days with your friends to throw down some ink or have an impromptu Pack Rush.

As for guaranteed events to help ease you into the new rotation and this next big step for Lorcana, make sure you come out to our Prerelease event on August 29. Get your hands on the new (and like-new) cards before the mass market street date of September 5. These events are also amazing for meeting other people passionate about the same things you are! Swap cards and share memories of your favorite Disney movies and shows while you are at it.

Booster Packs and display boxes offer players and collectors an exciting experience with Disney Lorcana TCG: Fabled boosters. Each box contains 288 cards from 24 booster packs, giving players the opportunity to customize and enhance their decks, or even build new ones. Each Disney Lorcana TCG single-player deck includes everything a player needs to play right out of the box. better looking and safer when you roll out one of the two new playmats from Cinderella or The Lion King.
It’ll follow on the heels of Fabled, but October 3rd will see the release of a new Frozen- themed Disney Lorcana: Elsa Gift Set. Not only will it feature card dividers for your collection, but also a glimmer foil treatment of the headline card: Elsa, The Fifth Spirt! Plus, you know, FIVE assorted other packs. There will also be a Collection Starter Set released sometime this quarter as well which, while not specifically Fabled-centric, will encourage more Illumineers to step up and get into this vibrant, active TCG.
